Based in Slagelse, Denmark
I am a Denmark-based freelance composer and orchestrator originally from the State of Maine in the United States. I earned my Master of Music Degree from the Royal Danish Academy of Music in 2022, where I studied with Niels Rosing-Schow, Jeppe Just Christensen, and Rune Glerup.
Among my notable achievements was the performance of my orchestral work, Jordens Sjæl, which premiered in 2022.
Then, in 2023, I was commissioned to notate and orchestrate four works for Østre Gasværk Teater’s production of “Another Brick in the Wall: Part 5”, which has also recently completed a second run in Aarhus and at the Royal Arena.
My work on “The Wall” subsequently led to my recently completed project with Østre Gasværk Teater, namely their brand-new musical “Olivia og skyggedansers hemmelighed”, for which I notated and orchestrated 29 new works for symphony orchestra, which were collaboratively written by composer-singer-songwriters Andreas Sommer, Rasmus Seebach, and Lars Ankerstjerne.
My musical voice, influenced by Ravel, Andre Jolivet, Takahashi Yoshimatsu, Janáček, Sarah Kirkland Snider, and Joe Hisaishi, emphasizes themes of nature, animals, and environmental conservation.
My works often follow narrative structures inspired by visual art or natural concepts, such as my recently completed Statens Kunstfond and KODA-funded six-movement work for sixteen voices and cello octet, “A Vast and Precious Blue”, which explores the dangers that threaten the global ice caps.
I compose intuitively and let each composition evolve organically in a flow-state of mind, primarily through piano improvisation.
